Family - Although her father is alive and well, this fact remains unknown to her. As such, her family consists of Edmont de Fortemps, whom she proudly calls Father alongside her adopted brothers, Artoirel and Emmanellain. The Scions, Hraesvelgr, Midgardsomr and other close friends are also her family

Residence - Alex lives in Ishgard, and depending on the verse, at either Borel Manor or Fortemps Manor with her respective families. However to keep it simpler, for RP purposes she lives at Fortemps Manor. She also has a FC house in Mist (on Adamantoise)

Positive Traits - Alex is strong, tenacious, passionate, loyal, protective, bold, intelligent, determined, loving, empathetic, playful, honest, compassionate, would do whatever was necessary to save someone she cares for and would willingly die for those she loves

Negative Traits - Extremely stubborn, hot-tempered, reckless, tenacious, blunt, feisty, swears profusely and like a pirate, impatient at times, thinks she can do almost everything by herself, has difficulty accepting help, often speaks and acts without thinking, socially awkward at large gatherings/functions, can be easily flustered depending on the situation and blames herself for things that are/were out of her control

Personality - Alex has a fiery soul, is extremely passionate and never does anything halfway - she loves (and plays) as hard as she fights. She dedicates all of herself - heart, mind, body and soul - to everything that she does, this includes loving someone and is wholly devoted to them

Alex is very affectionate with those she's close to and can be seen holding hands or arms linked with family, friends and lovers alike. She has a tendency to playfully pounce (jump) on people she knows, though she normally only does it to men since she's less likely to knock them down or hurt them

Although Alex is friendly, confident and easy to get along with, she can be shy, awkward and distant at times. She isn't much for large social functions and prefers small, intimate gatherings with those she trusts such as family and close friends

Likes - Food-wise, Alex prefers fruits and vegetables, but will eat chicken and she loves bacon. She also likes nearly every kind of bread and some sweets. She loves flowers but her favorites are Lilies of the Valley, Lilacs and Aurum Lilies. Alex likes snow, temperate or colder climates, nature, being outdoors, camping, fires (campfire and fireplace), long walks at night, boots and weapons of all types. She absolutely loves to wear her male lover's shirts and will do so all night or day. She'll also "steal" them if allowed, however she will return them freshly laundered

Dislikes - Alex hates fish and seafood of any kind, so I'm not responsible for what she'll do if you try to give her any. She doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and isn't fond of anything overly sweet. Nor does she like most types of meat. Alex does not like the heat or hot weather, especially if there's nowhere for her to cool off. Other things she can't stand are link pearls, class systems, bigotry, racism, sexism and rude, inconsiderate, narrow-minded, whiny people

Hobbies - Reading, archery, swimming, camping, basically anything having to do with the outdoors, riding/flying her mounts, exploring, training, blacksmithing, carpentry and sparring. She loves learning and in her spare time, can often be found pouring through tomes with Urianger or Y'shtola

Backstory, Headcanons, & More Info

Backstory--
Alexstrasza Ysera is a woman whose past no one in Eorzea knows, not even herself. She awoke on a carriage bound for Ul’dah, a city she'd never heard of before, with her name being the only thing she could remember. She doesn't have any idea who she is, where she's from or even if she has a family as she has no recollection of the life she led before this time.

Alex was mistaken for an adventurer upon her arrival in the Jewel of the Desert. Having nothing to her name except the clothes on her person and not knowing what else to do, she just went along with the misconception at first. She discovered she liked helping others and eventually embraced the life of an adventurer.

Shortly after joining the Thaumaturge Guild, she heard that the Black Shroud and La Noscea were home to many Miqo'te. As such, she left Ul'dah and journeyed first to Gridania, then to Limsa hoping to learn something about herself or her family. Unfortunately, she found nothing as her inquiries yielded no results. However, it was on the docks she met the dashing and charming pirate, Carvallain de Gorgagne, captain of the Misery, who swept her off her feet. Being young, naive in matters of the heart and completely smitten, Alex gladly accepted his offer to sail and to share his quarters. She loved life at sea, the freedom, the exhilaration and the beauty that came with it. However, her loathing of fish and seafood made it difficult to get the nourishment she needed. When Lain noticed how thin and pale she was, not to mention how his feelings for her were evolving and growing, he ignored her protests and immediately set sail for Limsa. Once there, it was him who convinced her to return to Ul'dah and resume her studies at the Thaumaturge Guild and her life as an adventurer with the promise that she could sail with him anytime she wanted after she was healthy again. It was one that the pirate kept as Alex still sails with Lain to this day, just not as often and she doesn't share his quarters anymore.

She returned to Ul'dah and picked up where she left off. Partly because of her inborn talent for magic and her affinity to the elements which allows her to control them easier, she swiftly became the Cocos' star pupil. Thanks to this, along with her kind, compassionate nature and her willingness to help anyone regardless of circumstance or whether she received payment, she quickly caught the attention of most of the city, including the Sultana, the Flame General and one Thancred Waters.

HEADCANON'S : Please note that not all of these HCs will apply to roleplay, unless you want them to or want to help Alex learn about her past. Most of them pertain more to how I write her in my fanfics and were only included in case someone was interested

~ Alex was born with an aptitude for magic. She also has an innate connection to the elements along with the ability to call them. She inherited these traits from her father and would be considered an elemental mage or shaman in other parts of the world

~ She discovered this gift to wield the elements by accident and has no idea where it comes from. It disturbs her because she doesn't know of anyone else with this ability. Therefore, not many are even aware she has it since she prefers to keep it hidden

~ As a red mage, she can use all the elements, except water, without raising questions, which is the primary reason she switched from a black mage

~ Like most mages, the power used to summon and control the elements comes from within and she doesn't need nor use a staff

~ She can fling fire and lightning from her hands, can light candles and fires with a tip of her finger and can give someone a jolt as well.

~ Although Alex is powerful, her gift isn't without limitations. She cannot simultaneously call or control elements that conflict with each other and are opposites, like fire and water. They must be able to coexist without cancelling each other out as they do in nature, as lightning and fire (which conducts lightning very well)

~ Another limitation is she can't control the weather. For example, she can't make it rain nor does she have the ability to stop it. Could she halt it temporarily? Possibly if she concentrated hard enough, but it'd definitely drain and weaken her. Enough so she'd need someone to protect her while she recovers

~ The biggest limitation on her gift is herself. Alex doesn't want it and she sees it as just one more thing that makes her different from everyone else. Therefore, she rarely uses her ability and doesn't know her full potential. She hasn't fully tested her gift and currently has no desire to since she is afraid of the implications

~ Alex is skilled with a bow and has trained with Thancred in the ways of a rogue. She uses these skills to enhance her natural agility which allows her more freedom to move in battle

~ Alex's most significant fault battle-wise is she's a weak healer. When she switched from black mage to red mage, X'rhun struggled to teach her what little healing she does know. After witnessing numerous failed attempts on her part, he commented that it's almost as if there were some sort of block in place, like a wall, preventing her from learning and using that type of magic. Working with that concept, he was able to break through just enough to finally succeed

~ Alex can teleport anyplace without using an aetheryte as long as she's been there and there's enough aether in the area to support it. She became curious after Lahabrea had told her she had no idea what she was truly capable of and since the Ascians could do it, she decided to learn how

~ She is unusually strong for her race, size and gender. She'll hide this unless she's angry or has need of it as she's embarrassed by it

~ Alex is a very sensual person and due to her Miqo'te heritage, has heightened senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. This causes her to be extremely sensitive to external stimuli which can effect her in many different ways to varying degrees depending on the circumstances. For example, sudden, bright light will cause a headache; various loud noises can quickly change her mood from happy to irritated, while other sounds soothe her, like the heartbeat of someone she loves and certain scents can instantly make her nauseous or will calm her

~ She has other cat-like traits such as purring, growling, pouncing, her tail swishes and flicks and her ears flatten, perk and twitch

~ Alex is fiercely protective of the people she loves and will fly to their defense in less than a heartbeat. If she believes they are threatened in any way, she'll act first, then question later

~ She is extremely stubborn and to a fault. Alex will not admit to being sick or wounded and will still continue to fight until the battle has been won. If she's seriously injured and/or bleeding profusely, she'll brush off anyone who expresses their concern by telling them it's "just a flesh wound"

~ Alex was drawn to Hraesvelgr at their first meeting and felt an unusual kinship with the great dragon. Although he saw she was different than others, he rebuffed her attempts at first. However, she persisted, and now the two share a unique bond and consider each other family. Her, his mortal daughter and him, her other father

~ She has been known to make pirates blush from the strings of profanity that spew from her mouth when she’s furious. Though she finds it highly amusing, her adopted father does not. Therefore, she has learned to control both her temper and her swearing as she'd rather cut off an arm than disappoint the only father she's ever known

~ Although she looks like and believes herself to be a full blooded Miqo’te, she is not. Alex’s true origins remain a mystery

~ Alex's mother died when she was only five years old, leaving her to be raised by her father. The two were already close before her mother's passing and became even more so after

~ Although she looks like her mother, she has her father's bright green eyes and the silver in her hair is the exact same shade as his. As for personality, temperament, beliefs, values, morals....well, Alex is her father's daughter through and through

~ The nameday Alex celebrates was bestowed upon her by Thancred. Unbeknownst to both of them, it is actually her father's nameday

~ I have multiple threads going on her and other characters. Most of these are friend related not romantic, but they're just as important. I do my best to respond to everyone as soon as I can, however RL comes first. If I keep getting hounded over a ship or a thread because someone is getting impatient, then I will not ship her with that person. So if you want to ship with Alex, all I ask for is your patience, understanding and to respect the fact I have a temporary diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis which affects my hands and wrists. I also have RL responsibilities and I’m writing the first novel in a (hopefully long running) series I created along with RP-ing Alex, a popular NPC and two alts.

ICEBREAKERS : After being told multiple times by different people that Alex is intimidating (especially if Mun/Muse is shy), I decided to add this section for those who might be in this situation.
